Raised in the home with a mother who is a Master level educator and a father who was also an educator and pastor, it's no surprise that Elydia excelled in higher education and acquired a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Justice. She serves on various boards and committees as an advocate for the education of young children and Juvenile Justice reform efforts.

As an author, she has coached several women in telling their stories through literature and was the recipient of “Beyond the Book Media’s 2019 People’s Choice Award”. Sharing her journey to peace and healing after divorce, as an author in the recent anthology project “Suddenly Single Divorced Mom’s 30 Day Devotional”, is just another way Elydia is attempting to help families move beyond trauma to a place of restoration.  

As a  mother of four of her own beautiful children, her time when away from work and community advancement activities is occupied nurturing and spending quality time with them. Elydia expresses her faith as a member of New Home Family Worship Center in New Orleans, Louisiana under the direction of Bishop R.C. Blakes Jr., and First Lady Lisa Blakes, and continues to grow her knowledge of Christ, self, and purpose while assisting others in doing the same.
